Students at the Shkolnikova Academy are granted private lessons on their instrument, chamber music coachings, large string ensembles, masterclasses, workshops and performance opportunities in a convivial and nurturing atmosphere.
Unique to this Academy is the possibility for students to take lessons from all faculty members. Our international faculty is comprised of musicians who hold positions in the world's top orchestras and conservatories, allowing students to discover a variety of approaches that stem from a similar tradition. New faculty in 2026 include professors Simon James, Chen Zhao and Daniel Kurganov (violin), Tatjana Masurenko (viola), Amir Eldan (cello) and John Dahlstrand (bass). The Academy also offers workshops in orchestral repertoire, audition preparation, alternative styles and more.
The academy is geared towards students aged 14 through 26, although younger students may be accepted upon individual consideration. Applications are open to violin, viola, cello and bass students and a limited number of advanced collaborative piano students.
Tuition fee for the 2026 academy is 1250 euros*
Includes individual 5 instrumental lessons, chamber music coachings in an assigned group, string ensembles, performance opportunities and recordings with a professional pianist, invitations to guest masterclasses, workshops, concerts and access to the amenities of the Chateau (swimming pool, games, etc.)
Scholarships may be available for qualified early applicants
Shared room and full board is 850 euros**
Students will be provided room and board on the grounds of the magnificent Chateau de la Flocellière in the Vendée region of France
Auditor fee is 200 euros
Auditing students are responsible for their own lodging (not on the grounds of the chateau) and may attend all masterclasses, workshops, concerts. No individual lessons or chamber music coachings are provided.
Additional private lesson (subject to availability) is 150 euros
